Privacy Policy
Effective October 10, 2026
Remvio is built so your medication information stays on your phone. You do not need an account, and the app works without an internet connection. This policy explains the few cases where data leaves your phone, and only when you choose them.
The short version
- Your medications, schedules and dose history are stored on your phone, not on our servers.
- The FDA label lookup is optional. If you turn it on, Remvio sends only the medication name to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s openFDA service.
- Signing in with Apple or Google is optional and only used for a backup you can restore on a new phone. It is sent and stored encrypted. You can delete the account and the backup at any time.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, show ads, or use analytics or tracking tools in the app.
- Medication names are never put in logs, analytics or crash reports.
Who we are
Remvio is published by Ember Development Studios, LLC (“Ember”, “we”, “us”), a company in Florida, USA. This policy covers the Remvio app for iPhone and Android and this website, remvio.app. Contact us at support@emberdevstudios.com.
Information stored on your phone
When you use Remvio, the following is saved in a database on your phone:
- Medications you add: name, strength, form, instructions, color and icon.
- The schedules and exact times you enter.
- Your dose history: what you marked Taken, Snooze or Skip, and when.
- Your settings, including the display name on your profile if you enter one, and a profile photo if you add one (taken with your camera or picked from your photo library, only when you choose to).
- FDA label text you looked up, kept so it can be shown again without a connection.
We cannot see this information. Reminders are scheduled by your phone’s own operating system. By default a reminder shows the medication name and time on your lock screen, so anyone who can see your screen may see it.
Your phone’s own backup (iCloud or Google device backup), if you use it, may include Remvio’s data. That backup is controlled by Apple or Google and your device settings, not by us.
Optional: “What to avoid” from the FDA label
Remvio can show the warnings sections of a medication’s official U.S. drug label. This stays off until you agree to it in the app. When it is on:
- Remvio sends only the medication name you typed to openFDA (api.fda.gov), a public service of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. No account, email, schedule or history is sent.
- Like any website, openFDA receives your device’s IP address with the request. The FDA’s own privacy policy covers how it handles that.
- If you tap the link to the full label, it opens DailyMed (dailymed.nlm.nih.gov), run by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, in your browser.
Optional: account and cloud backup
You can sign in with Apple or Google from your profile. The only purpose of the account is to save a backup of your Remvio data that you can restore on a new phone. If you never sign in, nothing in this section applies to you.
What is stored
- Account: a random account ID, the sign-in provider (Apple or Google), and the email address and name that Apple or Google share with us. With Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your email, and we then receive a private relay address.
- Backup: when you tap “Back up now”, a copy of your medications, schedules, dose history and settings (including your profile display name). Your profile photo is not included. With it we store the number of medications, the app version, your phone’s platform (iOS or Android) and the time of the backup.
- Previous backup: when a new backup replaces an older one, we keep the one before it, so a mistaken backup from an empty phone cannot erase your only copy. Only one previous copy is kept.
Where and how it is stored
Accounts and backups are stored with Supabase, our database provider, in the United States (AWS region us-east-1). Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and encrypted at rest by our provider. Database rules allow each account to read and write only its own backup. The backup is not end-to-end encrypted, so the systems that store it can read it. We look at a backup only when you ask us to, for example to recover your previous backup.
Deleting it
In the app, open your profile and tap Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, your backup and the previous backup. If you signed in with Apple, Remvio also asks Apple to revoke Remvio’s access to your Apple Account. The data on your phone is not touched. See how to delete your account and data for every option, including deleting without the app.
Purchases (Remvio Plus)
Remvio Plus is a one-time purchase made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes the payment; we never receive your card or bank details. To check whether you own Remvio Plus and to restore it, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc., a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives:
- An anonymous app user ID created on your phone, or, if you signed in for backup, your Remvio account ID (a random identifier, not your name or email).
- Purchase and receipt information from the App Store or Google Play, such as the product, price, currency and store country.
- Basic app and device information needed to process the purchase, such as the platform and app version.
No medication information is ever sent to RevenueCat, Apple or Google as part of a purchase.
This website
remvio.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising tools. It is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Who we share data with
We share data only with the service providers named above, and only to run the features you use:
- Supabase (accounts and backups, if you sign in).
- Apple and Google (sign-in, if you choose it; purchases through their stores).
- RevenueCat (purchase status).
- The U.S. FDA’s openFDA service (the medication name, if you turn the label lookup on).
- Vercel (hosting this website).
We do not sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
How long we keep data
- On your phone: until you delete it in the app or uninstall Remvio.
- Account and backups: until you delete your account. Deletion takes effect immediately.
- Our providers keep routine security and operations logs (for example, that a request was made and when) for a limited period under their own policies. These logs do not contain your backup.
Your choices and rights
- Use Remvio without an account. Everything works without signing in.
- Leave the FDA label lookup off.
- Hide reminder content on your lock screen in your phone’s notification settings.
- Delete your account and backup at any time from your profile, or by emailing us.
Depending on where you live (for example, California, Virginia or the European Union), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to object to or limit its use. Your medication data is on your phone, so you already hold it. For anything we hold (your account and backup), email support@emberdevstudios.com from the address on the account, or tell us which sign-in you used. We will answer within 30 days and will not treat you differently for using your rights. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Security
We use encrypted connections, access rules that limit each account to its own data, and the security features of our providers. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.
Children
Remvio is meant for adults managing their own medications. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Not medical advice
Remvio is a personal reminder tool. It is not a medical device and is not provided by or for a healthcare provider or health plan. See our Terms of Use.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
